Oh So Street Team (facebook)

Greetings lovelies,

We’ve created a Facebook Group to initiate the beginnings of an Oh So street team.

Rather than a simple collective of fans, the intent is to foster direct contact and interaction between Oh So and our fans. In exchange for helping to promote upcoming Oh So shows and releases, we will offer free, discounted, and wherever possible EXCLUSIVE merchandise and music.

Our first Street Team campaign will be to promote the September 6th Charlottesville Va show with Autumn Cannibals. Join this facebook group now to help take part in the promotion. We will post details for the campaign on Saturday August 13th.

Special gig with AUTUMN CANNIBALS

Hello Lovelies,

I’m very pleased to announce that we’ll be playing a gig with AUTUMN CANNIBALS, side project of Jeff Diehm, vocalist for the legendary band THE LAST DANCE on September 6th:

Please feel free to “borrow” this graphic for use on your personal social networking profiles and blogs.

This will be a special gig for a number of reasons. First and foremost, this will be the only non-DragonCon appearance of AUTUMN CANNIBALS on the east coast this year. Second, we have been invited by Jeff to accompany him for a number of songs in his set. He may have also agreed to play a couple THE LAST DANCE songs with us as well… Needless to say, this is not a night to be missed!

We’re in the brainstorming stage for the creation of a new OH SO STREET TEAM, where we will offer free or discounted music and merchandise, exclusive wherever possible, to fans who help us promote our live appearances and releases. This show will likely be the trial run for this program… so stay tuned for more information.

New releases coming soon

Greetings lovelies,

We’ve been locked in the studio working devilishly hard on a pair of digital EP releases for this summer. The sound of these EPs explore a territory that was only hinted at subtly on ALL I EVER WANTED, and it’s something we’re quite excited to share with you. Additional vocals on these EPs will be provided by Leia Manuel of the Charlottesville, VA indie band Tragic Chemistry.

Unfortunately about halfway through tracking the vocals for the first EP, I was diagnosed with an infection in my lingual tonsils that left me unable to speak, let alone sing. Recovery is progressing, albeit slowly, but in the meantime production had to be put on hold. I decided to spend the downtime polishing off some remixes from ALL I EVER WANTED. Inspiration struck, and before I knew it there were a stack that I felt good about releasing. The result is the coming EP we’ve decided to call 434.

The tentative track list for this release is:
1. All I Ever Wanted (Gothic Version)
2. This Mistake (Frozen)
3. Temptation Floor (Tempted)
4. Turn
5. Lack Of Sleep

In sad news, the Virginia gothic/industrial music scene lost one of it’s brightest lights last Thursday with the passing of Bryce Liddle, bassist for the band Freak Flag and also known to many in local dance clubs as DJ Belway. Charlottesville’s goth night Umlaut put together an event on April 26th, both to celebrate his memory and to raise funds to offset the cost of the funeral. I can’t adequately describe how it felt to be there. Indeed, words seem too cheap as I try to string them together. I had the honor of performing a song for Bryce that night, which was captured on a few cell phone video cameras. Here is the resulting performance, for all of you that could not be there.

Until next time,
JJ
